The Rialto Theater in Florence, Fremont County, will showcase the play “Ordinary Days” this weekend, aiming to highlight the extraordinary moments in everyday life. Presented by the local theatre company, Rooted Gypsy Repertoire, the production explores the complexities of relationships and the chaos of modern living.

Director and founder of Rooted Gypsy, Kayla Mueller, describes the play as focusing on “what happens in the chaos and stresses of life and how to find the extraordinary in the ordinary day.” The narrative follows four young adults as they navigate their personal challenges, including romance and work. The story unfolds through the lives of two couples in separate timelines, sometimes intersecting, offering a nuanced perspective on love and relationships.

Mueller, who has long aspired to bring “Ordinary Days” to the stage, shared her excitement about the upcoming performance. “It’s always been on my bucket list,” she noted, reflecting on a previous opportunity to perform in a professional production of the play that was ultimately cancelled. “This is something that was always sort of a missed opportunity.”

Adding to the creative team, music director Damian Kudel and stage manager Michelle Hyatt contribute to the production’s success. Since its founding in 2023, Rooted Gypsy has been committed to enriching the local arts scene while also giving back to the community. A portion of the proceeds from this production will benefit various food banks throughout Fremont County.

“We really want to be able to pour back into our communities,” Mueller stated. She emphasized the pressing need for support, particularly in light of recent events that have affected many. “With everything that’s happened in the last month, it just made sense. This is a big need here and all across the country.”

The one-act musical will take place on a bustling New York City stage, with performances scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are priced at $18 per person and are available for purchase at City Market, Big D’s Superfoods, online, or at the box office.

As the weekend approaches, the community can look forward to an engaging theatrical experience that promises to resonate with audiences through its relatable themes and heartfelt performances. For more information on upcoming shows and performances, visit the Rooted Gypsy Repertoire website.
