A number of churches in the Pottstown area are gearing up for services and special events to celebrate Transfiguration Sunday on February 15. These gatherings offer a chance for community worship, fellowship, and additional activities aimed at supporting local residents.

Worship Services Across Pottstown

St. John’s United Church of Christ, located at 11 S. Price St., invites everyone to join their worship service at 10:15 AM on Sunday. This special service will celebrate Transfiguration Sunday and will also be available for viewing later on YouTube. The church continues its commitment to community support through its Little Pantry, which is regularly stocked with essential items, and is currently collecting food for Operation 143. Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings are scheduled throughout the week.

At the First Presbyterian Church of Pottstown, situated at 750 N. Evans St., community members are encouraged to attend the Faith and Friendship gathering at 9:15 AM followed by worship service at 10:30 AM.

Zion’s United Church of Christ, located at the intersection of Hanover and Chestnut streets, will also celebrate Transfiguration Sunday at 10:15 AM. This service will be streamed live on Facebook at ZionsUCC. The church will begin the Lenten season with Ash Wednesday services on February 18, held jointly with Trinity Reformed UCC at 7:00 PM.

Community Support Initiatives

Bethel Community Church, located at 575 N. Keim Street, will hold its Community Sunday School at 10:00 AM, which will feature a discussion on “Jeremiah’s Call and Arrest.” Morning worship follows at 11:00 AM, where attendees will continue celebrating Black History Month. The church’s food pantry will be closed on February 18, reopening on February 23.

Harvest Fellowship Church in Boyertown invites participants to join their worship at 10:15 AM, focusing on a new sermon series in the Book of Judges. Weekly programs include midweek Bible studies for adults and teens.

St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, located at 564 Glasgow St., will celebrate the Sixth Sunday after Epiphany with a Holy Communion service at 9:30 AM. The church also hosts various events, including a church council meeting and a senior luncheon.

As Ash Wednesday approaches on February 18, several churches, including St. Paul’s UCC and Grace Lutheran, will hold services that include the Imposition of Ashes. St. Paul’s will also facilitate a Diaper Bank, helping families in need on the third Wednesday of every month.
