A confrontation in a hotel parking lot in Newark, Delaware, led to the arrest of a woman from Connecticut after she allegedly pointed a rifle at three teenagers. The incident occurred on the evening of December 5, 2023, at approximately 20:00, when Delaware State Police responded to reports of an armed altercation at the Hilton Hotel located at 100 Continental Drive.
According to police reports, the three juveniles were playing with a football in the parking lot when they noticed a woman inside a paratransit van displaying what appeared to be a firearm. The teenagers immediately fled the scene, and fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
Law enforcement located the paratransit van in a nearby lot and arrested the woman, later identified as 50-year-old Rachel Dinorscia, without incident. A search of the vehicle revealed a long rifle, which is believed to have been used in the encounter, along with a second rifle and two handguns.
Following her arrest, Dinorscia was transported to Troop 6 for processing. She faces multiple charges, including possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, three counts of aggravated menacing, and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. She was subsequently arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and is currently held at the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on a secured bond of $23,500.
The situation has raised concerns about safety in public spaces, particularly for young individuals engaging in recreational activities. As the investigation continues, authorities remind the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
This incident highlights the potential dangers that can arise in seemingly safe environments and underscores the importance of community vigilance. Further updates regarding the case will be provided as they become available.
