The University at Buffalo School of Management hosted a vibrant welcome party on August 22, 2024, to celebrate the arrival of its new undergraduate Class of 2029 and transfer students. This event marks a continuation of the school’s commitment to fostering leadership and making a significant impact on individuals, businesses, and communities globally.
Event Highlights and Activities
Students were invited to join faculty and staff, including Ananth Iyer, Dean of the UB School of Management, as they engaged in various activities designed to enhance their connections within the school community. The gathering provided an opportunity for new students to meet their peers, explore student clubs, and enjoy food and entertainment.
Throughout the event, attendees participated in activities such as mechanical bull rides, human foosball, and crafting friendship bracelets. An airbrush artist offered temporary UB-branded tattoos, and a DJ provided musical entertainment, ensuring a lively atmosphere.
The event also featured an introduction to the new course, Introduction to Management for Majors, which aims to help students integrate into their chosen fields and connect with faculty and staff. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to cultivate relationships between students and the university’s academic community.
Logistics and Schedule
The welcome party took place from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. at the Jacobs Management Center in Buffalo, NY. Weather permitting, festivities were held in Paula T. Agrusa Plaza and on the outdoor lawn. In the event of inclement weather, activities were relocated indoors.
Attendees began arriving at 12:50 p.m. to participate in pre-scheduled activities, culminating in a group photo for the incoming Class of 2029 at 2:30 p.m. This event not only marks the start of the academic year but also serves as a cornerstone for building lasting connections among students, faculty, and alumni.
