Boris Tetleroyd, who was Jewish, was killed in the shooting. His son, who remains hospitalized with serious injuries, was also affected by the attack. His niece, Leia Roitour, shared her family’s grief on a GoFundMe page established to support them in the wake of this tragedy. She expressed the profound loss felt by the family, stating, “Our family is grieving the sudden and violent loss of a beloved husband and father in the Bondi attack.” The fundraiser aims to cover medical expenses and living costs for Tetleroyd’s wife, who is now facing life as a widow.
Fifty-year-old Adam Smyth was another victim of the attack. Described as a devoted father of four, he was walking along the beach with his wife, Katrina Smyth, when the shooting occurred. In a statement released by his family, they conveyed how he and his wife had been “living their best lives together” prior to this senseless act of violence. The family added, “No words can describe the pain of our loss,” emphasizing the emotional toll of the incident.
The attack has resulted in a total of fifteen fatalities, with thirteen victims publicly named so far. The violence targeted the “Chanukah on the Beach” event, a community celebration meant to foster unity and joy among attendees.
The Smyth family also referenced Liverpool FC, a team Adam passionately supported, in their tribute. They concluded their statement with the phrase “You’ll never walk alone,” a nod to the club’s anthem that resonates deeply within its fan community.
