The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is set to implement lane closures for resurfacing and repair work on three major roads in Philadelphia from August 18 to August 22, 2023. The affected roads include Veree Road, Rising Sun Avenue, and Kelly Drive, necessitating significant adjustments for motorists in the area.
Details of the Lane Closures
Starting on Monday, August 18, lane closures will occur on Veree Road between Bustleton Avenue and Oxford Avenue. The closures will be in effect daily from 09:00 to 15:00 and again from 20:00 to 06:00 to facilitate milling and repairs on inlets and manholes.
In conjunction with this, Rising Sun Avenue will see a reduction to one lane nightly from 20:00 to 06:00, beginning August 18 and extending through August 22. Daytime lane reductions will also occur from Wednesday, August 20, to Friday, August 22, between 09:00 and 15:00 for additional inlet and manhole repairs.
On Kelly Drive, lane closures will take place between 25th Street and Ridge Avenue during the same timeframe, from August 20 to August 22, from 09:00 to 15:00. This work is essential as part of PennDOT’s ongoing efforts to enhance roadway safety and extend the lifespan of state highways.
Impact on Motorists and Traffic Updates
Motorists in the affected areas should anticipate delays due to these necessary repairs. All work is contingent on weather conditions, and drivers are advised to plan their routes accordingly. For real-time updates on roadwork and traffic alerts, PennDOT encourages the public to visit the MyChesCo Traffic Center.
This resurfacing initiative reflects PennDOT’s commitment to maintaining and improving road safety across the state. As always, the cooperation of the public during these projects is greatly appreciated to ensure a smoother process for all involved.
