Nishant Grover has been appointed the new president of Ericsson Canada, effective immediately. He succeeds Jeanette Irekvist, who is returning to Sweden after leading the company in Canada since 2020. Grover brings 18 years of experience with Ericsson, having held various senior roles that span customer-facing and product organizations.

In his most recent position, Grover served as the head of network product sales within the AT&T customer unit. There, he spearheaded strategic initiatives that contributed to significant growth in the United States. “Canada and Ericsson are both leaders in many important fields including AI, quantum and advanced mobile network research,” he stated. He emphasized the importance of Ericsson’s world-class research and development (R&D) facilities located in Ottawa and Montreal, which play a critical role in the company’s global innovation efforts.

Ericsson Canada has a rich history that spans over 70 years, with an average annual investment of $345 million dedicated to R&D. The company is also actively involved in a national ecosystem network designed to foster the adoption of 5G technology and promote collaboration across various sectors in the country. Its presence extends to R&D centers and offices in Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto.

Grover’s appointment comes at a pivotal time as the telecommunications industry continues to evolve rapidly. With the ongoing advancements in technology, Grover’s leadership will be crucial in steering Ericsson Canada towards further growth and innovation. His vast experience within the company positions him well to continue the legacy established by Irekvist, who focused on enhancing Ericsson’s footprint in the Canadian market.

As Grover steps into his new role, he is expected to leverage his expertise to navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead, ensuring that Ericsson remains at the forefront of technological advancements in Canada and beyond.
