nighttime-lane-closures-planned-on-i-95-for-sign-removal

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a series of nighttime lane closures on I-95 in Northeast Philadelphia for the removal of sign structures and the installation of barriers. These closures will take place from August 18 to August 21, 2024, as part of ongoing infrastructure improvements.

From 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM each night, southbound I-95 will experience double right lane closures between the Cottman Avenue and Allegheny Avenue interchanges. Concurrently, a single left lane closure will occur on northbound I-95 between the same interchanges from Monday through Wednesday during the same hours.

To ensure the safe removal of sign structures, PennDOT will implement a full stoppage of southbound I-95 each night from 11:30 PM to 12:00 AM on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The agency cautions that if adverse weather conditions arise, the work may be rescheduled for the night of August 22, 2024.

Motorists should anticipate significant delays and are encouraged to plan for extra travel time. To avoid late-night traffic congestion, drivers can access real-time updates and detour information by visiting the MyChesCo Traffic Center. This resource will provide essential information to help navigate the affected areas effectively.

As these lane closures are implemented, they are expected to facilitate essential maintenance work that will enhance safety and efficiency on this major thoroughfare. Drivers are advised to remain vigilant and adjust their travel routes accordingly during this period.
