nevada-donor-network-achieves-record-organ-donations-in-2025

The Nevada Donor Network (NDN) has reported a record-breaking year for organ, eye, and tissue donations in 2025. This achievement comes amidst national challenges in the field of organ procurement, as NDN successfully recovered lifesaving gifts from 262 organ donors, 1,090 tissue donors, and 1,586 cornea donors. The organization also highlighted that 2,957 mothers graciously donated their birth tissue, resulting in a total of 795 organs transplanted and over 300,000 tissue grafts distributed.

Receiving recognition as a Tier 1A Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) represents the highest performance designation within the field. Joseph Ferreira, President and CEO of Nevada Donor Network, remarked, “Achieving Tier 1A status during a year of national decline underscores what’s possible when commitment, collaboration, and compassion come together.” He emphasized that every donation represents a life transformed through the generosity of donors.

The success of NDN is attributed not only to the dedication and expertise of its staff but also to the vital partnerships with hospitals throughout Nevada. Ferreira noted, “None of this would be possible without our hospital and community partners across the state and the countless supporters who believe in the power of donation.” The collaboration between clinical teams and NDN ensures that every potential opportunity for donation is approached with dignity and care.

Looking ahead, Nevada Donor Network remains committed to enhancing its services, strengthening partnerships, and honoring the memories of donor heroes and their families. As the only Nevada-based 501(c)(3) not-for-profit OPO, NDN plays a crucial role in serving millions of Nevadans and thousands of potential transplant recipients across the nation. Currently, over 100,000 Americans, including nearly 700 Nevadans, are awaiting a lifesaving organ transplant.

With each organ donor capable of saving up to eight lives, healing up to 75 through tissue donations, and restoring sight to two individuals through cornea donations, the impact of these selfless acts is profound. NDN continues to work diligently to promote organ and tissue donation through education, research, and community outreach.

Established in 1987, Nevada Donor Network is one of only 55 OPOs across the United States. The organization collaborates closely with hospital staff and community partners to provide essential support for donor families, turning moments of loss into hope for others. NDN is also a member of Donate Life Nevada, an affiliate of Donate Life America, which encourages residents to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors.
