The organizing committee for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games has unveiled two official posters that embody the spirit of the upcoming events. The posters, revealed on Wednesday, are bold graphic representations designed to capture the unique character of both host cities. This initiative aligns with a long-standing tradition of commissioning artistic posters for Olympic Games, which dates back to the early 20th century.
Olimpia Zagnoli and Carolina Altavilla, both distinguished Italian artists, created the striking visuals. Zagnoli’s poster, titled “Olympic Vision,” showcases a vibrant central figure gazing through glasses shaped like Olympic rings. Set against a backdrop of snowy mountain peaks, this design reflects the stylish essence of Milan and the breathtaking alpine environment of Cortina. Zagnoli emphasized that her artwork celebrates both athletes and spectators, encapsulating the excitement of the Games scheduled for February 6-22, 2026.
Altavilla’s untitled design for the Paralympic Games, taking place from March 6-15, 2026, is a dynamic portrayal of all six Paralympic Winter sports. The artwork bursts with energy, featuring an array of colors including pinks, blues, and chartreuse. At the forefront, an image of Milan’s Duomo Cathedral anchors the composition, while athletes are crowned by three curved symbols known as “Agitos,” which translates to “I move” in Latin.
Large versions of these posters will be prominently displayed alongside official torches at Milan’s Triennale Design Museum and various other venues throughout the Winter Games. Smaller replicas of the posters will be available for purchase at a price of 35 euros, approximately $41.
This recent unveiling follows the earlier release of ten artistic posters by a diverse group of ten artists, five female and five male, during the summer. Those designs are also currently exhibited at the Triennale, contributing to Milan’s vibrant cultural landscape as it prepares to host this prestigious international event. The posters not only serve as a celebration of the Games but also as a testament to the creativity and artistic heritage of Italy.
With the countdown to the Winter Games underway, these artistic expressions are poised to capture the attention and imagination of audiences worldwide.
