A series of criminal and safety incidents overwhelmed Wyomissing Police over January 6 and January 7, 2026, as officers responded to a multitude of emergencies. Reports included stolen vehicles, assaults, fraud cases, and several traffic collisions, according to police blotter records.
The two-day crisis began shortly after midnight on January 6 when a vehicle was reported stolen from Park Road North. The vehicle was later recovered in West Reading by local authorities. As the sun rose, officers were called to Museum Road to handle two separate incidents involving individuals experiencing mental health crises. One of those individuals was transported to a hospital, while the other was returned to a nursing facility.
Traffic incidents dominated the afternoon and evening of January 6. A significant crash occurred at Wayne Avenue and Park Road South, resulting in two vehicles being towed after one allegedly struck another and a stop sign. Additionally, a hit-and-run on Bern Road left damage to a vehicle’s front bumper, prompting further investigation.
Numerous other incidents were logged that day. Police documented a verbal altercation on Cleveland Avenue that led to alleged threats, a suspicious inquiry on a credit report on Pinewood Road, and a walk-in report of a stolen credit card and headphones valued at more than $650 from a residence on Wyomissing Court.
Morning of January 7 Brings New Incidents
January 7 began with a series of early-morning calls, including a traffic stop on Route 222 that resulted in citations for speeding and unsafe lane changes. A 911 hang-up call from Van Reed Road was determined not to be an emergency.
As the day progressed, police were dispatched to Spring Street for a death investigation. During this incident, a coroner was called to the scene, although no public details were released. Retail thefts were also reported on State Hill Road and Berkshire Boulevard, with one incident involving a stolen cologne tester, while another theft involved items valued at $175.
The police also responded to an assault on State Hill Road, a fraud complaint involving washed checks on Woodland Road, and a trespassing complaint regarding a guest who had overstayed at a location but left without further incident.
Ongoing Police Activity
January 7 saw several vehicle accidents logged, including a reportable crash on Fourth Street that resulted in one vehicle being towed. A hit-and-run was reported on Route 422, and another two-vehicle accident was ultimately unfounded when officers could not locate the involved vehicles.
In addition to these incidents, police received multiple calls regarding individuals allegedly impersonating electric company employees on Cambridge Avenue. There were also reports of a suspicious juvenile selling items on Penn Avenue and a disorderly conduct call involving a woman who initially refused to leave a location but did so peacefully.
By the end of January 7, Wyomissing officers had managed a total of 19 separate incidents for the day, following 17 incidents the previous day. This reflects a steady stream of calls for service across the borough. Authorities emphasized that all incidents referenced in the blotter remain allegations until proven otherwise in a court of law.
