Allegiant Air, renowned as Las Vegas’ hometown airline, has announced its expansion to the East Coast with new routes to Atlantic City, New Jersey. Starting from December 4, 2023, the airline will offer one-way fares as low as $39 for flights connecting Atlantic City with four locations in Florida.
The new service will initially commence from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport, followed by routes from St. Pete-Clearwater, Orlando Sanford, and Punta Gorda Airports beginning on Presidents’ Day weekend. This marks the first time Allegiant will operate flights to Atlantic City International Airport, according to a confirmation from the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
As an ultra-low-cost carrier, Allegiant specializes in flying from smaller, underserved cities to popular warm-weather destinations. The airline’s operations often face little to no competition on its routes, enhancing its appeal to budget-conscious travelers.
The expansion into Atlantic City aligns with the growing interest in the East Coast’s gaming and entertainment sector. Clark County, Nevada, where Allegiant’s corporate headquarters is located, reported approximately $6.8 billion in gambling revenue through June 2023. Notably, about $4.3 billion of this revenue originated from the bustling casinos along the Las Vegas Strip, as per the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
In comparison, New Jersey’s gambling industry generated $3.3 billion in the same period, fueled by the collective performance of Atlantic City’s nine brick-and-mortar casinos, alongside online casinos and sports betting, according to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement. This indicates a robust market for gaming and leisure activities on both coasts.
Allegiant’s new routes are expected to attract not only tourists visiting Atlantic City but also those looking for affordable travel options to Florida’s sunny destinations. As the airline continues to expand its network, it reinforces its commitment to providing accessible travel solutions between key markets in the United States.
