UPDATE: A series of alarming incidents have been reported across Rowan County, NC, leading to multiple arrests between January 15 and January 18, 2026. The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office confirms several drug-related charges and thefts, raising concerns about safety in the community.
At 7:18 a.m. on January 15, authorities responded to a report of possession of a dangerous drug on West Liberty Street in Salisbury. Just hours later, at 2:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to Weant Street in East Spencer for a case of weapon possession.
Driving under the influence was also a significant concern, with an incident recorded at 12:25 a.m. on Long Ferry Road in Salisbury. Additionally, a separate case of drug paraphernalia possession occurred at 12:49 a.m. on Jake Alexander Boulevard West, Salisbury.
The Sheriff’s Office reported a troubling trend of identity theft, with two separate fraud cases under investigation. The first, reported on January 15, involved identity theft at Parks Field Drive in Kannapolis, occurring between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. on January 13. A second case was reported on January 16 at Gold Knob Road in Salisbury, occurring between 12:43 p.m. and 2:43 p.m. on December 8, 2025.
A significant burglary incident took place at N.C. Highway 801 in Woodleaf on January 15, involving both forcible entry and vandalism. The timeframe for this crime was between 4 a.m. and 4 p.m.
In a shocking escalation, an assault and drug possession were reported on Wyant Road, Rockwell, at 7:10 p.m. on January 15, highlighting rising violence in the area.
As the week progressed, additional incidents of theft and vandalism were reported across Salisbury. Notably, multiple larceny from motor vehicle cases were reported on Grandeur Drive early on January 18. Law enforcement noted at least four separate thefts occurring between 5:16 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on that day alone.
The situation escalated further with arrests linked to these crimes. On January 15, Jason Tyler Gordon, aged 30, was charged with felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance. The following day, Devron Sean Davis, aged 33, faced multiple charges, including felony possession of a schedule VI controlled substance with intent to manufacture.
By January 17, Ray Allen Glen Spry, aged 42, was arrested for felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance, followed by Craig Allen Garmon, 52, who was charged on January 18 for felony possession of a stolen vehicle.
Officials urge community members to stay vigilant as investigations continue. Local residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
The rapid succession of criminal activities and arrests underscore a pressing need for increased awareness and community action. As authorities work to address these issues, residents are advised to remain alert and proactive in ensuring their safety and that of their neighbors.
