URGENT UPDATE: Fallon is buzzing with exciting art events this January and February, starting with a gallery reception for renowned artist Patrick Kikut on January 23 at 5 p.m. at the Oats Park Art Center, located at 151 E. Park St. Kikut, who has spent over 35 years exploring landscapes from Great Falls, Montana to El Paso, Texas, is now focusing on the less protected areas threatened by development. In addition to Kikut’s reception, a special book signing event is set for January 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at His Inspirations, 200 S. Maine St. Four local authors will showcase their works, including Robert Kahn with “Bobby and Mandee’s Street Smart,” and Bill Slentz, who wrote and illustrated “Arnold A. Airplane.” Also featured are Aaron McBride, sharing his testimony in “When the Desert Bloom,” and a compelling collection titled “Legacies of the Silver State,” authored by Ken Beaton, Steve Ranson, and David C. Henley, which includes over 70 stories from Nevada veterans of World War II.
On a different note, the Churchill County Museum kicks off its Young Chautauqua Program for youths aged 12-18 on February 4. The program will run every Wednesday from 3:30-5 p.m. through April 18 at 1050 S. Maine St.. Under the guidance of instructor Glen Perazzo, participants will research local historical figures and create monologues, enriching community engagement with local literature.
