Kick off your weekend at the Luzerne County St. David’s Society of the Wyoming Valley, where a delightful children’s book reading will take place at 10 a.m. in the Ousterhout Library on S. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre. Bring your little ones for a morning of storytelling and fun!
Later that day, at 1 p.m., join the St. David’s Society for a ceremonial wreath-laying at the Miner’s Memorial on Public Square, weather permitting. This event honors the region’s heritage and contributions of its miners.
On Tuesday, February 24, don’t miss the Wyoming Valley Real Estate Investors Association monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at Grotto Pizza. Hear from Lieutenant Ryan Foy of the Luzerne County Sheriff’s Department discussing Sheriff Sales. New members are welcome, and a $15 fee at the door will apply, which can be credited toward annual dues of $85.
Mark your calendars for the 147th annual St. David’s Day Banquet on March 1 at 4 p.m. at the Westmoreland Club. Tickets are available for $50, or $150 for patron tickets for two. Additionally, on March 24, the Alhamar Caravan No. 4 is hosting a spring dinner dance to benefit Special Olympics bowlers from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fox Hill Country Club. The evening features a DJ and a hearty menu for just $35 per person. Reservations and payment are due by March 11.
The Allan Hamilton Dickson Spring Writers Series continues with renowned poet and educator Brionne Janae on February 25 at 7 p.m. in Kirby Hall Salon, Wilkes University. Janae, a former NEA Creative Writing Fellow, will share insights from her acclaimed poetry collections. The event is free and open to the public.
Moreover, the Wyoming Valley Chapter of The Embroiderers’ Guild of America invites you to a public stitch-in on February 28 from 10 a.m. to noon at Barnes and Noble in the Arena Hub Plaza. Bring your projects or come to learn more about this craft!
