UPDATE: The United Way of Greater Hazleton has just announced its board of directors for the upcoming 2025-2026 term during a campaign celebration breakfast held on July 22 at Four Blooms restaurant in Drums. This critical update underscores the organization’s commitment to enhancing community support and services in the Greater Hazleton area.

The United Way of Greater Hazleton is a vital nonprofit organization dedicated to serving local families, particularly focusing on early childhood education and literacy initiatives. Notably, they administer the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which provides free books to children, ensuring that literacy is accessible to all, especially underprivileged families.

In addition to their literacy programs, the United Way runs two back-to-school readiness initiatives and operates a Nurse’s Pantry throughout the Hazleton Area School District. This pantry supplies essential hygiene items to children in need, significantly impacting their health and well-being.
