UPDATE: Top-25 senior recruit Cole Cloer has officially committed to the NC State Wolfpack, as confirmed by ESPN just moments ago. This pivotal move marks Will Wade’s second top-25 recruit since taking the helm at NC State last spring, solidifying his reputation as a talent magnet.
The 6-foot-7 small forward, hailing from North Carolina, expressed his excitement about the decision, stating, “Choosing NC State was an easy decision for me. It’s the program I have supported since I was a kid.” Cloer had also considered offers from UConn, Florida, and Alabama, but the lure of staying home proved irresistible.
In his own words, Cloer emphasized the importance of representing his home state: “Now I have the opportunity to represent the city and state that shaped who I am while competing in the ACC.” He is eager to contribute to the ambitious vision that Coach Wade is building, declaring, “I’m excited to be part of the Red Reckoning that Coach Wade is building and to play in a system that highlights my strengths.”
Cloer, ranked as the No. 25 player in the SC Next 100 and the top player from North Carolina, is noted for his exceptional offensive versatility. He has demonstrated his scoring ability through various styles, from spot-up three-pointers to explosive drives. Last spring and summer, he led Team CP3, averaging an impressive 16.7 points over the Nike EYBL regular season and 15.3 points during six games at the Nike Peach Jam.
As the second recruit in NC State’s 2026 class, following the commitment of three-star center Trevon Carter-Givens last month, Cloer’s addition is a significant boost for the Wolfpack. This commitment follows the earlier signing of No. 24-ranked Matt Able from the 2025 class, showcasing Wade’s effective recruitment strategy.
Cloer praised Coach Wade, stating, “Coach Wade is a proven winner with an elite staff, and I believe I can thrive under their leadership.” He is poised to bring his confidence, work ethic, and competitive spirit to a program that Cloer believes is on the rise to becoming one of the premier teams nationally.
Looking ahead, NC State is also in contention for five-star point guard Deron Rippey Jr., who is set to visit the Wolfpack campus in November, further heightening expectations around the program’s future.
