UPDATE: A 47-year-old man from South Euclid was arrested for driving under the influence after a hit-and-run incident late last night in Lyndhurst, Ohio. The crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. on December 3, 2023, in front of the Walgreens on Mayfield Road.

Police responded to reports of a two-car collision where the driver of a GMC Acadia reported that the other driver, who fled the scene in a white Toyota, appeared to be intoxicated. Officers quickly located the suspect’s vehicle at 1443 Richmond Road, near CVS/Pharmacy, where they confirmed the man’s impairment.

The suspect was arrested for OVI (Operating a Vehicle Impaired) and hit-skip charges. Notably, he refused to take a breathalyzer test at the scene. This incident raises serious concerns about road safety and drunk driving in the area, prompting police to urge residents to report any suspicious behavior.

In an unrelated incident, theft was reported at L.L. Bean on Cedar Road on December 6. Loss prevention staff indicated that a 65-year-old Cleveland man stole merchandise valued at $1,020 on November 29. The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed yet.

Additionally, on December 1, a woman from the Makeup Institute on Mayfield Road reported fraudulent checks written from her business account, totaling $931.64. Police are investigating this matter as well.

In a more alarming situation on December 2, police responded to a potential crisis involving a 51-year-old man who was reportedly in distress. Emergency services were alerted when 911 received a call with a woman heard urging the man to “Put the gun down.” Officers quickly intervened and transported the individual to MetroHealth Hospital for evaluation.

Another incident on December 4 involved a domestic disturbance. A 56-year-old woman called police regarding her 55-year-old husband, who was highly intoxicated and refusing help to enter a rehabilitation facility. Authorities advised her to contact them again if the situation escalated, but she did not follow up.

Lastly, on December 5, three juveniles attempted to steal merchandise from Dick’s Sporting Goods at 24545 Cedar Road. However, police apprehended the boys nearby, and they were released without charges, as no theft occurred.
