URGENT UPDATE: Scrap Management Industries Inc. (SMI) has just announced its acquisition of Allmetal Recycling, a key player in Kansas’s scrap metal sector. This significant deal, confirmed today, includes Allmetal’s facility located at 70 SE 16 Road, Great Bend, Kansas, and enhances SMI’s operational reach across the Midwest.
The acquisition will allow Allmetal to maintain its identity while benefiting from SMI’s extensive resources. Owners Clint and Kolby Cornejo will stay on in leadership roles, ensuring continuity for Allmetal’s valued customers and community partners. “Joining the SMI family allows us to keep doing what we do best for our customers and communities,” Kolby Cornejo stated, emphasizing the advantages of the merger.
With this acquisition, SMI expands its footprint to include 10 locations in Kansas, notably enhancing its presence in major cities such as Wichita, Salina, and McPherson. Overall, SMI will now operate a total of 19 yards across Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma, featuring five Automobile Shredders, including two Mega Shredders, significantly ramping up its capacity and operational capabilities.
This strategic move comes as SMI aims to enhance customer experience by providing more convenient recycling options and a broader range of services. “Allmetal has done an outstanding job serving Kansas communities,” said Jerrit Burgess, CEO of SMI. “Bringing their team into the SMI family allows us to offer more locations and better service while keeping decisions close to the communities we serve.”
For customers, this means not only maintaining familiar service under the Allmetal name but also gaining access to SMI’s robust infrastructure, which includes improved transportation and container options. The merger promises to enhance the overall customer experience, making recycling more accessible and efficient.
Allmetal Recycling, established in 2009, has built a solid reputation for safety, service, and community engagement. With the combined strength of SMI, the Cornejos are poised to take their operations to new heights without losing the local touch that their customers value.
As the industry evolves, stakeholders and customers alike will be watching closely to see how this acquisition reshapes scrap metal recycling in the region. The collaboration between SMI and Allmetal signifies a pivotal moment in the industry, opening doors for new opportunities and growth.
