Johnson was born on July 21, 1933, in Tacoma, Washington. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Belcher, of Randle, WA, along with his son, Timothy Johnson, and stepdaughter, Jennifer Mullins. He leaves behind two grandchildren, Kayla and Kylea Johnson, who will remember him as a dedicated family man and outdoorsman.
A devoted employee of the U.S. Forest Service from 1966 until his retirement in 1994, Johnson cherished his years in the woods. Colleagues recall his engaging stories about life in the forest and the friendships he formed during his career. He also served in the U.S. Army for two years, stationed in Germany, where he developed a sense of duty and resilience that defined his character.
As an avid hunter, Johnson enjoyed the thrill of the outdoors, often embarking on trips to hunt elk and deer. His passion for nature also led him to climb numerous mountains, including Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens, showcasing his adventurous spirit. Friends and family describe him as a hardworking individual who was always busy—working log trucks, operating forklifts, and even managing a tree farm he developed from an old shake mill.
