UPDATE: In an exciting announcement, Pharrell Williams is set to auction five exclusive pairs of Air Jordans made specifically for Michael Jordan from November 6 through November 18, 2023. This auction follows the record-breaking sale of a signed Michael Jordan rookie card for $2.5 million in June, underscoring the immense value of Jordan memorabilia.

This auction features multiple unique items, including three signed pairs and two iconic shoes worn during playoff games with the Chicago Bulls. Notably, among the items is a pair of game-worn Air Jordan IXs, originally gifted to Ed Smith, a former utility player for the Orlando Cubs and future NFL tight end. Another remarkable pair includes Air Jordan VIIIs, worn during Game 1 of the 1993 NBA Playoffs against the Atlanta Hawks and gifted to John Michael Wozniak, famous for his role as Jordan’s security guard during the documentary “The Last Dance.”

Additionally, the auction will showcase a sample pair of the Jordan Air 1s and two pairs of sample Air Jordan XIs. One of these XIs was worn during the Bulls’ historic 1995-96 season, where they achieved a remarkable 72-10 record, and the other was worn during the playoffs, leading to a championship victory against the Seattle Supersonics.

Caitlin Donovan, JOOPITER’s Global Head of Sale, emphasizes the significance of these shoes, stating,

“Each of these shoes reflect a chapter in Michael Jordan’s evolution as not only an athlete, but as a global icon whose influence continues to shape culture.”

She highlights how the world of sports collecting serves as a powerful connection to greatness and a means to preserve defining moments that resonate across generations.

This auction is expected to attract significant attention from collectors and fans alike, making it a crucial event for anyone interested in sports memorabilia and the legacy of Michael Jordan. As the auction dates approach, collectors are urged to stay tuned for updates and prepare for what could be a landmark event in sports auctions.
