UPDATE: A pedestrian was seriously injured in a shocking crash just before midnight on New Year’s Eve in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on December 31, 2023, in the 400 block of North Broad Street, where the victim was struck by a vehicle.

According to city officials, surveillance footage revealed the pedestrian walking in the road towards Parker Road moments before the collision. Emergency responders found the victim unconscious and breathing, suffering from a significant injury to the right eyebrow.

The victim was quickly transported to University Hospital in Newark, where they remain unconscious as of Thursday morning, January 1, 2024.
