URGENT UPDATE: A tragic shooting on West Broad Avenue in Albany has left one teen dead and four others injured. The incident occurred late Monday night, October 16, 2023, around 11:48 p.m., prompting immediate response from the Albany Police Department.
Officers arrived at the 1700 block of West Broad Avenue to find a 17-year-old male pronounced dead at the scene. In addition, four other juveniles were discovered with gunshot wounds, including another 17-year-old male, a 15-year-old male, and two 16-year-old victims, one male and one female.
The injured were swiftly transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for urgent medical care. Two of the victims were later moved to a medical facility in Macon for surgical procedures, with one reportedly suffering from serious internal injuries. The other two victims received treatment and have since been released from the hospital.
