UPDATE: Garland, Texas, is set to host the groundbreaking inclusive circus, Omnium Circus, this weekend, with its debut show “I’m Possible” on March 16 at 7 p.m. and March 17 at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Atrium, located at 300 N. 5th Street. This transformative performance aims to bring joy and entertainment to everyone, regardless of physical ability.
The show is the brainchild of founder and executive director Lisa B. Lewis, who envisioned an inclusive circus after a powerful moment during her clowning career. “During a performance, I noticed a group of teenagers who seemed disengaged, and then my partner began telling jokes in sign language. Their laughter changed the entire atmosphere,” she recalled. This experience ignited Lewis’s mission to create a circus that embraces all individuals and celebrates diversity.
Omnium Circus, established in 2020, is dedicated to showcasing talent from a range of backgrounds. Attendees will be thrilled to see Mandy Harvey, a finalist from “America’s Got Talent” and a Golden Buzzer winner, perform as part of the show. Additionally, the production will feature Malik Paris, a deaf ringmaster who will lead the sign-language portion, alongside Johnathan Lee Iverson, the first Black ringmaster for a major U.S. circus, who will handle vocal announcements.
The performance will also highlight extraordinary acts including a six-time Paraclimbing World Cup champion and the world’s fastest female juggler, among other talented performers. Each act reinforces the circus’s core belief that “circus elevates our belief in ourselves; it allows us to see the best of what humanity has to offer,” Lewis stated.
Tickets are priced at $21.99 for youth and $27.19 for adults, making this an accessible entertainment option for families in the area. With the countdown to the show underway, Omnium Circus promises to deliver a unique experience that fosters inclusion and celebrates the talents of all individuals.
