UPDATE: A series of criminal incidents has rocked Salisbury, North Carolina, over the past week, with reports of hit and run, burglary, and shoplifting dominating local police blotters. These developments highlight a troubling pattern in community safety, with incidents ranging from property damage to serious charges like rape and arson.
In a significant hit and run, a vehicle struck multiple properties in the 500 block of Lash Drive between 10 p.m. on January 15 and 9:06 a.m. on January 16, leaving behind an estimated damage of $400. Authorities urge residents to remain vigilant as investigations continue.
Just hours later, a burglary by unlawful entry occurred in the 300 block of South West Street, resulting in a theft valued at $400. Police confirmed that this incident took place between 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on January 16. The community is on high alert as authorities work to identify the suspect.
Later that day, at 4 p.m., a driving while intoxicated incident was reported in the 800 block of East Innes Street. This was followed by multiple shoplifting cases, including one at 4:10 p.m. in the 300 block of South Arlington Street, where goods worth $206 were stolen.
As the week progressed, the crime wave continued. On January 18, police recorded several shoplifting incidents in the 300 block of South Arlington Street, with losses totaling $343. A burglary by forcible entry was also reported in the 300 block of Calhoun Street at 3 a.m., further alarming residents.
Authorities reported a disturbing rise in violent crimes as well. An assault occurred in the 1000 block of Oakmont Court at 6:46 p.m. on January 17. On January 19, two discharging a firearm incidents were reported, one at 8:10 p.m. in the 400 block of Julia Drive and another at 1:09 a.m. in the 500 block of South Craige Street.
Additionally, a shocking case of arson was confirmed at 2:50 a.m. on January 21, when a resident reported her vehicle was deliberately set on fire in the 1100 block of Crosby Street. Investigators stress the importance of community cooperation in solving these cases.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office also reported significant incidents, including a rape that occurred between January 18 and January 19 on Cedar Drive and multiple cases of vandalism across the area.
Several individuals have been charged in connection with these crimes. Notably, Nasir Nyheim Fudge, 25, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance on January 19. Meanwhile, Dylan Andrew Martin, 26, faces serious charges of breaking and entering with the intent to terrorize or injure. Barry Laneil Bostic, 34, was charged as a fugitive from justice on the same day.
Community leaders are calling for increased police presence and vigilance among residents as these incidents unfold. The local police department encourages anyone with information to come forward as investigations continue into these alarming events.
