According to reports from Nottingham Crown Court, Lee Horsley, a 31-year-old car mechanic, lost control of his highly modified BMW while attempting a dangerous overtaking maneuver in wet weather. The vehicle, which boasted a staggering 397 brake horsepower, collided head-on with an Audi driven by Fensom. She suffered severe injuries, including a fractured spine and neck damage, and tragically succumbed to her injuries three days later in the hospital.
Detective Sergeant Paul Clark of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit described the BMW as a “wolf in sheep’s clothing,” highlighting the reckless nature of Horsley’s driving. “This was a reckless piece of driving that claimed the life of a much-loved daughter and friend to many,” he stated.
