UPDATE: The community of Vinemont, Alabama, is mourning the loss of George Arnold Oden, who passed away at the age of 58 on January 30, 2026, at his residence. His funeral service is set for 1 p.m. on February 5, 2026, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home, with Rev. Dewayne Harper officiating.
The visitation will take place the night before, on February 4, from 6-8 p.m., at the same location. Following the service, Mr. Oden will be laid to rest at Oden Ridge Cemetery.
George was born on February 9, 1967, to Vernon Arthur Oden and Carolyn Childers Oden. He is survived by his mother and three sisters: Sonya Ryan, Linda (John) Webb, and Mary Jane Oden.
Tragically, George was preceded in death by his father, brothers Arthur Oden and Jim Oden, and brother-in-law Steve Ryan. His family remembers him fondly, and he leaves behind a close-knit family including a nephew, Bradley Fields, and three nieces: Hannah (Cody) Landis, Elizabeth (Justin) Maxwell, and Ben (Haley) Oden. He also had several great-nieces and great-nephews who will miss him dearly.
As friends and family gather to honor George’s life, the community reflects on his contributions and the impact he had on those around him. The arrangements are being handled by Cullman Heritage Funeral Home, which encourages anyone who knew George to attend the services and share their memories.
