BREAKING: Lego has just announced an exciting new addition to its lineup—a stunning 2,912-piece Goonies set inspired by the beloved 1985 film. The set, which recreates the legendary pirate ship Inferno, is set to launch for $309.99 on November 4, 2023, with early access starting on November 1, 2023.
This highly detailed diorama features intricate rooms that evoke some of the film’s most memorable scenes, including the Fratellis’ hideout and One-Eyed Willy’s treasure room. Included are 12 minifigures—Mikey, Mouth, Chunk, Andy, Data, and more—along with unique molded pieces for Sloth’s pirate hat and Mama Fratelli’s beret.
To commemorate the launch, Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan, who portrayed Data in the original film, participated in a nostalgic mini-film that showcases the set’s impressive features and hidden Easter eggs. Quan shared an intriguing behind-the-scenes story about how the cast filmed the reveal of the Inferno ship:
“When the time came to film the reveal, they had us walk in backwards in a line, then get into the water with our backs to the ship the entire time,” Quan told The Hollywood Reporter. “Only Josh (Brolin) had to film a re-take, as he let out a curse in excitement the first time around!”
Designed by Greek 3D artist Vaggelis Ntezes through Lego’s fan-submission program, this project merges nostalgia and creativity. Ntezes expressed the deep personal connection to his childhood memories while designing the set: “I wanted to build something that offered both playability and display value.”
In addition to the main set, early buyers will receive a bonus 179-piece Goonies: The Walsh’ Attic set, which recreates the attic scene where the kids discover the treasure map.
The Goonies has become a cultural phenomenon, remaining a streaming favorite on Max. Warner Bros. is also developing a sequel, making this the perfect time for fans to relive the adventure brick by brick.
