URGENT UPDATE: Hugh Jackman’s acclaimed musical drama Les Misérables will begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video starting January 1, 2026. This highly anticipated release allows audiences to revisit one of the most celebrated film adaptations in recent years, coinciding with a significant influx of titles on the platform.

The 2012 epic, directed by Tom Hooper, features Jackman in the lead role as Jean Valjean, a former prisoner relentlessly pursued by the determined policeman Javert, portrayed by Russell Crowe. The ensemble cast includes notable talents such as Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne, Amanda Seyfried, Helena Bonham Carter, and Sacha Baron Cohen.

Set against the backdrop of early 19th-century France, the film chronicles Valjean’s quest for redemption while safeguarding Fantine’s daughter, showcasing powerful performances that garnered widespread acclaim. The film grossed an impressive $442.8 million worldwide on a $61 million budget and received eight nominations at the 85th Academy Awards, winning three.

This streaming debut follows the recent release of a digitally remixed and remastered version, which was screened in Dolby Cinema earlier this year to celebrate the stage musical’s 40th anniversary. The anticipation is building as fans prepare for this opportunity to experience Jackman’s performance anew.

In addition to Les Misérables, Amazon Prime Video will debut a range of popular titles on the same day, including Forrest Gump, Bohemian Rhapsody, and various Mission: Impossible films, making the start of 2026 an exciting time for subscribers.

As we approach the new year, keep an eye out for the full list of titles streaming on January 1, 2026—this is a moment not to be missed!
