A flight attendant was tragically stabbed to death in a Dubai hotel by her ex-husband, who believed she was working as an escort. The incident occurred at the luxurious Voco Bonnington Hotel, where Anastasia, a 25-year-old employee of Pobeda Airlines, was found with at least 15 stab wounds on March 10, 2024. Her former spouse, Albert Morgan, 41, was apprehended shortly after landing in St. Petersburg, Russia.
According to investigators, Morgan, a legal consultant, had allegedly stalked his ex-wife to the United Arab Emirates. He suspected Anastasia of engaging in high-end escort work during their marriage. Reports indicate that he entered the hotel disguised as a guest, wearing a hotel robe he had stolen from the laundry area. Morgan managed to convince a maid to allow him access to Anastasia’s room.
Initial plans by Morgan reportedly involved vandalizing Anastasia’s belongings and cutting her hair with scissors. However, upon confronting her, a violent altercation ensued, resulting in her death. The Russian investigators detailed that Anastasia sustained multiple stab wounds to her neck, torso, and limbs.
The couple had been married for two years before their separation, during which time Morgan allegedly accessed Anastasia’s private messages to track her whereabouts. After the incident, Dubai police identified him as a suspect through security footage and coordinated with Russian authorities, leading to his arrest upon arrival in St. Petersburg.
In custody, Morgan expressed a desire to join the fight for Russia in Ukraine, a tactic that some Russian individuals have employed to evade imprisonment. Nevertheless, a judge has ordered him to remain in detention for at least two months while the investigation continues.
Morgan has a troubled past, having spent seven years in prison on drug charges. His decision to change his name to one similar to a famous American banking family has drawn additional attention to his case. Reports suggest that he and Anastasia had previous domestic disputes, although she had previously withdrawn all complaints against him.
This tragic incident raises critical questions about domestic violence and the lengths individuals may go to when fueled by jealousy and distrust. The investigation continues, with both Russian and UAE authorities working together to gather more information surrounding this case.
