BREAKING: A 37-year-old man from Fairfield, California has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for the voluntary manslaughter of his brother-in-law, Raymond Antonio Moore, aged 30. The sentence was handed down by Judge Stephanie Grogan Jones on Friday, following a conviction in December.
In a violent incident that occurred on May 27, 2022, Kristopher Robert Johnson fatally stabbed Moore during a confrontation at Moore’s residence. According to court reports, Johnson, a convicted felon, used a knife to inflict life-threatening injuries after the two men engaged in a fistfight.
The jury’s decision confirmed that Johnson used a deadly weapon, resulting in an 11-year sentence for manslaughter and an additional 1 year for the weapon enhancement, the maximum penalty allowed under California law.
Victim impact statements were presented in court, highlighting the devastating effects of Moore’s death. His mother, Ginsi Robinson, described her son as “special” and expressed profound grief, stating, “I knew his heart. I knew his dreams.” Moore was a musician and educator who inspired many, particularly teaching music to disabled children.
His wife, Jehssikah Plummer, condemned Johnson’s actions as “senseless,” emphasizing that the loss of Moore has irreparably harmed their family. “On top of losing our ray of sunshine, we must live with the fact that someone who should have been family … betrayed us all,” she stated.
Prosecutor Amanda Farr led the case against Johnson, while Rohan Beesla represented him as the alternate public defender. After the stabbing, Johnson fled the scene and was apprehended approximately 24 hours later at a motel in Vallejo.
This tragic case underscores the severe consequences of violence and the ripple effects it has on families and communities. As the legal process concludes, the emotional scars remain for those who loved Moore.
