Draymond Green has expressed his thoughts on the NFL MVP race as the 2025 season approaches its conclusion. The Golden State Warriors forward is perplexed by the recent shift in betting odds favoring New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, particularly following the Los Angeles Rams’ disappointing performance against the Atlanta Falcons. Green’s comments highlight the ongoing debate surrounding the MVP frontrunners as the regular season draws to a close.

After the Rams lost to the Falcons on December 18, 2025, the odds began to tilt in Maye’s direction. Despite the change, Green is not convinced that Maye deserves to be the leading candidate. “Matthew Stafford still has 12 more touchdown passes than Drake Maye and now the same amount of interceptions… MVP,” Green stated on the social media platform Threads. His defense of Stafford is rooted in the quarterback’s overall performance throughout the season, questioning the validity of Maye’s rise in favor due to a single game.

Stafford’s performance against Atlanta was lackluster, as he completed 269 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. The Rams struggled throughout the game, unable to mount a successful comeback. In contrast, Maye recently delivered an outstanding performance against the New York Jets, throwing for 256 yards and five touchdowns without any turnovers.

As of now, the Patriots hold a strong record of 13-3, and Maye’s statistics are impressive: he has completed over 70 percent of his passes for more than 4,200 yards, with a total of 30 touchdowns and just eight interceptions. On the other hand, Stafford has led the Rams to an 11-5 record, completing 65 percent of his passes and accumulating 4,448 yards, with 42 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Green’s argument carries weight as the NFL MVP conversation intensifies in the final week. With the playoffs approaching, the outcome of the last games could significantly influence the MVP award choices. For now, Maye seems to be gaining traction in the NFL community. Green appears steadfast in his support of Stafford, reinforcing the competitive nature of the MVP discussion as the season wraps up.
