URGENT UPDATE: A party bus in Cape Cod was completely engulfed in flames on Saturday afternoon, with no injuries reported. The incident occurred around noon on October 21, 2023, when the driver successfully evacuated all passengers before firefighters from the Wellfleet Fire Department arrived.

Fire crews reported the bus was “fully engulfed in flames,” with flames spreading to nearby brush and threatening a home. Fortunately, firefighters acted swiftly, extinguishing the fire and preventing it from reaching the residence.

One individual was evaluated at the scene but did not require hospitalization. Eyewitness images shared by the Wellfleet Fire Department depict the bus, which is part of the Funk Bus fleet, completely damaged.

Owner Raphael Richter confirmed to local media that the fire originated due to an engine malfunction. He praised the driver’s prompt actions, stating, “We will work to determine the root cause as our Funk Bus fleet is regularly inspected and maintained to ensure its safe operation.”

The fire is currently under investigation, and authorities believe it to be accidental in nature. Richter noted that the bus is a total loss, highlighting the importance of safety protocols for their fleet.

Assistance came from the Eastham and Orleans fire departments, while Wellfleet lifeguards helped evacuate residents from the nearby home, showcasing a strong community response amid the chaotic situation.
