UPDATE: The Boy Scouts of Troop 424 are set to conduct their annual Christmas tree pickup in Jackson, MI, on Saturday, January 10, starting at 8 a.m. This curbside service is available exclusively by reservation for residents within the city limits.

Residents are urged to place their trees at the curb the night before pickup to ensure collection. To schedule a pickup, call 517-740-0570 as slots are limited and must be booked in advance.

This year, Troop 424 will not be holding a general tree pickup, a shift from previous years as confirmed by Tina Reese, the event coordinator. Last year, the troop successfully collected 230 trees, showcasing their long-standing commitment to community service since the late 1970s.

Tom McKown, troop committee chair, expressed the joy of the Scouts in participating in this community event, noting, “We also appreciate hearing from people how much they enjoy seeing our Scouts out doing a community service event. And the Scouts enjoy being out in the snow.”

After collection, the trees will be taken to a local farm where goats will make quick work of the organic waste. This environmentally friendly initiative not only supports local wildlife but fosters community spirit, making it a cherished annual tradition for many.

Residents can support Troop 424 through donations, which can be mailed to Troop 424, 914 Helena Ave., Jackson, MI 49203.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to responsibly dispose of your Christmas tree while supporting local Scouts! Schedule your pickup today and be part of this community-focused event.
