UPDATE: The Toronto Blue Jays captured the spotlight with a stunning 6-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 4 of the World Series, drawing an impressive 14.81 million viewers across Fox, Fox Deportes, and streaming platforms. This surge in viewership makes it the most-watched game of this year’s Fall Classic and the second most-viewed Game 4 since 2018.
The audience peaked at 16.7 million during the thrilling late innings between 10:00 PM and 10:15 PM EDT, showcasing the electric atmosphere surrounding this pivotal matchup. Last year’s Game 4, featuring the Dodgers and New York Yankees, averaged 16.28 million viewers, creating high expectations for this year’s series.
Despite the challenge of competing against last year’s historic series, the current World Series is outperforming previous years. The four-game average now stands at 12.16 million, surpassing the record-low 9.11 million from the 2023 series between the Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks. This indicates a significant rebound in viewer interest.
Officials from Fox noted the importance of these numbers, especially as they reflect a broader engagement with baseball.
“We are thrilled to see these viewership numbers, which show the growing enthusiasm for this year’s World Series,”
a Fox spokesperson stated.
Combining audiences in the U.S. and Canada, Tuesday’s game reached a staggering 21.5 million viewers, marking the highest viewership for a World Series game since the decisive game of the 2019 series. Additionally, the World Series now averages 19.3 million combined viewers, a remarkable 23% increase from previous years, and the highest since the 2016 matchup between Cleveland and the Chicago Cubs.
In Canada, Blue Jays games are broadcast on Sportsnet, which is owned by Rogers Communications Inc., the parent company of the Blue Jays. This connection amplifies the team’s visibility and viewer engagement in their home market.
As the World Series progresses, Game 3-5 ratings from Japan are anticipated to be released by Major League Baseball on Friday, with the first two games averaging 10.7 million viewers, further highlighting the global interest in this championship series.
With Game 5 looming, all eyes are on the Blue Jays and Dodgers as they vie for the championship title. Fans and analysts alike are eager to see if the Blue Jays can maintain their momentum and secure a pivotal win in the upcoming game.
