Gates enjoyed a remarkable career, playing all 16 seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers. He finished with an impressive 955 catches, 11,841 yards, and 116 touchdowns. His accolades include eight Pro Bowl selections and three All-Pro titles, with his first coming in just his second season.
Gates began his college career at Eastern Michigan before transferring to Kent State, where he averaged 18.1 points and 7.9 rebounds during his final two seasons. He was instrumental in helping the Golden Flashes secure back-to-back regular season titles and qualify for the NCAA Tournament.
