URGENT UPDATE: About Premium Content (APC) has just announced that it has acquired global rights to the highly anticipated French crime saga “Blue Gold.” This exclusive deal comes ahead of the Unifrance Rendez-Vous in Le Havre, where the series is set to make its debut on September 1, 2023.

The eight-part series, produced by Banijay Entertainment’s Authentic Prod, stars the talented Barbara Probst, known for her roles in “The Amateur” and “Cette nuit-là.” Directed by Hippolyte Dard, “Blue Gold” intertwines a gripping family drama with a compelling crime narrative set against the backdrop of sun-drenched Southern France.

The official synopsis reveals a powerful story: “When a devastating drought strikes the remote village of Vallouans in 2024, it uncovers a century-old buried secret, passed down through generations.” Young Flore, portrayed by Probst, is drawn into her family’s dark past, as her mother and grandmother hold keys to a mystery that will finally come to light.

APC’s head of international sales, Julie Mateille, emphasizes the series’ multifaceted narrative, stating, “The show contrasts the lush nature of the 1980s with today’s harsher reality, underlining the impact of climate change.” She highlights the “natural and organic” storyline, making it a significant selling point for audiences worldwide.

“Blue Gold” promises to deliver a mix of addictive drama with elements of a classic investigation, resonating with viewers across generations. The production is in capable hands with seasoned producer Aline Panel, known for her work on hit scripted shows like “Sam” and “Je te promets,” the French version of “This is Us.”

The series is set to premiere later this year on French public broadcaster France Télévisions, with specific dates yet to be announced. The Unifrance Rendez-Vous, which begins on September 1, serves as an essential platform for APC to showcase “Blue Gold” alongside other premium titles, including “Seasons” and “The Big Fuck Up.”

Mateille notes the importance of this market, stating, “The Rendez-Vous offers a great opportunity to bring buyers together in a more casual way and encourage them to screen our series.” She also reflects on the current market landscape, where traditional broadcasters are more selective in their content acquisitions, creating challenges for new projects.

With the global demand for captivating local content on the rise, “Blue Gold” stands out as a timely and relevant series, promising to engage audiences with its rich storytelling and environmental themes. Stay tuned for more updates as this exciting project unfolds!
