teknowledge-cuts-324-jobs-in-colorado-springs-amid-industry-shift

TeKnowledge, a prominent technology employer in El Paso County, has announced a significant reduction in its workforce in Colorado Springs, eliminating 324 positions. This decision was confirmed in a letter submitted to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment on Friday. The company cited shifts in priorities and demand within the technology sector as the primary reasons for this restructuring.

In an emailed statement, Iman Ghorayeb, a company spokesman, explained that the realignment aims to better reflect the evolving needs of clients. “Unfortunately, this includes changes to our workforce structure,” he stated. The company, which rebranded from Tek Experts in April, employs over 6,000 individuals across 19 global locations, including Nigeria, Costa Rica, and El Salvador.

Despite not having a single headquarters, Colorado Springs is one of TeKnowledge’s largest operational sites in the United States, with an estimated workforce of more than 600. Founded in 2010, the privately-held company specializes in cybersecurity, operations automation, online training, and, more recently, artificial intelligence (AI), particularly in the emerging field of agentic AI. This technology aims to assist or replace human roles such as order takers and customer service representatives.

The job cuts will specifically affect TeKnowledge OPS USA Inc., which operates from a facility located at 1150 Kelly Johnson Blvd. The layoffs are scheduled to occur between October 30 and December 30. Among the positions being eliminated are 120 stage two technical support engineers, 41 reactive support managers, and 31 fintech analysts.

Ghorayeb expressed gratitude for the contributions of those affected, stating, “We deeply appreciate the contributions of those impacted and are committed to supporting them with respect, care, and practical assistance.” He also noted that the company’s commitment to delivering AI-first technology services remains unchanged, and as opportunities arise, there is hope to reconnect with former employees.

Despite the job cuts, TeKnowledge is expected to retain its position as one of the top five technology employers in Colorado Springs. Ghorayeb emphasized the city’s value as a service delivery location, citing its exceptional talent pool, strong community spirit, and supportive business environment.

This announcement comes in a broader context of employment changes in the region. Recently, the Trump Administration revealed plans to relocate the headquarters of U.S. Space Command from Colorado Springs to Huntsville, Alabama, a move anticipated to result in the loss of 1,400 jobs and an estimated $1 billion in annual economic activity for the area.

As the technology landscape continues to evolve, TeKnowledge’s actions reflect the ongoing challenges and adjustments faced by companies in adapting to new market demands.
