SonicWall has appointed Michael Crean to lead its newly established managed security services division, marking a significant step in the company’s evolution towards becoming a comprehensive cybersecurity firm. Crean, who previously founded the managed security service provider Solutions Granted, joined SonicWall following its acquisition of the firm in late 2023.
In his prior role as Senior Vice President for managed security services, Crean has demonstrated his capability in driving growth and innovation. With his new responsibilities, he will oversee the division that provides both co-managed and fully managed cybersecurity solutions, aimed at enhancing the security offerings available to SonicWall’s partners and clients. This strategic move positions SonicWall to compete more effectively with industry leaders such as Cisco, Barracuda, and WatchGuard.
In an effort to streamline operations, SonicWall offers a license bundle for its software services, designed to alleviate the demands of firewall administration for its partners. This initiative reflects the company’s commitment to providing valuable tools and services that enable managed service providers (MSPs) to focus on their core business objectives.
The firm has already begun collaborating with other managed security service providers, including Napa Valley Networks, which has integrated SonicWall’s SonicSentry offering into its security operations. This partnership underscores SonicWall’s focus on building a robust ecosystem of services that can be tailored to meet the diverse needs of its partners.
Crean expressed enthusiasm about his new role and the direction of SonicWall. In a recent statement, he remarked, “This is the new SonicWall: responsive, partner-led, and ready to deliver what MSPs need to succeed. Managed security services aren’t just part of our future; they’re a core layer of every security solution we sell.”
With this appointment, SonicWall is not only enhancing its service portfolio but also reinforcing its commitment to a partner-driven approach in the cybersecurity landscape. As the demand for managed security services continues to rise, the company’s strategic investments and leadership changes are poised to position it as a formidable player in the market.
