samsung-rolls-out-january-2026-security-patch-for-galaxy-z-fold-7-flip-7

Samsung has begun distributing the January 2026 security patch for its flagship foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. This update follows a similar rollout for the Galaxy A34 and Galaxy A55, enhancing the security of these popular smartphones.

The update first launched in Korea, the company’s home market, and is expected to expand to other regions shortly. Samsung typically implements such updates across different markets within days, so users should remain attentive for availability notifications on their devices. Once the update reaches a specific region, it will be deployed in stages, which may require some patience from users.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 receives firmware version F966NKSS7AYLT, while the Galaxy Z Flip 7 updates to firmware version F766NKSS7AYLT. The January patch introduces a total of 55 security fixes, with 23 of these originating from Google, although 2 are not applicable to Samsung devices. Additionally, 4 fixes come from Samsung Semiconductor, and 30 from Samsung Mobile.

Among the patches included in this update, one is classified as critical, 28 are considered high-risk, and 3 are marked as moderate-risk. Samsung has made clear the importance of these updates for maintaining device security and user privacy.

Users will receive notifications when the update is available on their devices. For those eager to expedite the process, Samsung recommends manually checking for updates. This can be done by navigating to Settings, selecting Software Update, and then tapping Download and Install.

Looking ahead, many other Samsung devices are set to receive this security patch in the coming weeks. The Galaxy S25 series is anticipated to be next in line, following the earlier updates to mid-range models. The Galaxy S24, along with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, are also expected to receive the patch soon.

As Samsung continues to prioritize device security, users can expect a comprehensive rollout of this latest update across its extensive smartphone lineup.
