Rode has introduced its new Wireless Micro Camera Kit, designed to enhance flexibility and usability for content creators. The kit features universal camera compatibility, allowing it to connect seamlessly to various modern camera systems while maintaining its connection capabilities with smartphones. This upgrade builds on the success of the original Wireless Micro, which provided users with improved audio quality in a compact, wireless format.
The updated system includes a redesigned receiver unit that integrates a display, making it significantly easier to operate. According to Rode, this new receiver represents a second generation of their camera receiver technology, catering to a broader spectrum of content creators. The enhanced receiver unit is compatible with both 3.5mm TRS and USB-C outputs, making it suitable for full-size cameras.
With a larger size, the receiver allows for the incorporation of a 1.1-inch AMOLED display. This feature provides content creators with greater control over settings, addressing a crucial limitation of the previous model. The integrated cold shoe mount ensures stability by securely attaching the receiver to the top of standalone camera systems.
The transmitter system maintains its high-quality standards, featuring built-in microphones in each of the two units that automatically pair with the receiver. The omnidirectional pickup pattern captures sound from all angles, while the Intelligent GainAssist technology balances audio levels automatically. Each transmitter is equipped with integrated clips and magnetic mounts, along with windshields to reduce wind noise and plosives.
The Wireless Micro Camera Kit fits into a compact charging case that extends battery life, offering up to 21 hours of total use per charge with two full recharges. The receiver automatically detects when it is connected to a camera, powering on and off as needed.
Rode emphasizes that this update builds on the original Wireless Micro’s acclaimed audio quality, simplicity, and portability. “Building on the success of the award-winning Wireless Micro, which revolutionised smartphone content creation, the new Camera Kit expands its capabilities to include second-generation universal camera connectivity,” a Rode spokesperson stated.
The Wireless Micro Camera Kit is now available for purchase at a price of $149. Notably, the original camera receiver can still be redeemed for customers who purchased a Wireless Micro USB-C or Lightning configuration before October 30, 2025, offering continued support for existing users.
