Huawei has launched the Mate XTs, its second-generation trifold smartphone, now available for order in China. This new model features enhancements such as stylus support, fresh color options, and a reduced price. While it retains much of the design from the original Mate XT, the addition of a stylus for the folding display is a significant upgrade.

The Mate XTs boasts a 10.2-inch display that can fold down to 7.9 inches and 6.4 inches. It is powered by the new Kirin 9020 chipset and includes an improved 40-megapixel ultrawide camera. In terms of aesthetics, the phone comes in four colors: the returning red and black, along with new white and purple options, all featuring a pleather finish.

With a starting price of 17,999 Chinese yuan (approximately $2,520), the Mate XTs is positioned as a more affordable alternative to its predecessor, which was priced at 19,999 yuan (around $2,800). The original Mate XT launched outside China with a price tag of €3,499 (roughly $4,070). While the price remains a consideration, early reviews highlight the device’s appeal.

Competitive Edge in the Market

Huawei’s release of the Mate XTs is notable as it arrives before any other manufacturer has released a trifold device. Samsung is expected to launch its competing model soon, adding competitiveness to the market.

In addition to the Mate XTs, Huawei has also unveiled several other products, including the MatePad Mini tablet, Freebuds 7i earbuds, and a new MateTV range. These announcements reflect Huawei’s continued commitment to innovation across its product lines, catering to a diverse consumer base.

As the smartphone market evolves, Huawei’s focus on combining functionality with style in the Mate XTs could attract users looking for advanced features at a comparatively lower price. The stylus support and improved camera functionality are likely to appeal to both tech enthusiasts and casual users alike.
