Apple has introduced the iPhone Air, its thinnest smartphone to date, measuring just 5.6mm thick. During the announcement, CEO Tim Cook emphasized the device’s blend of performance and design, stating it offers “pro performance in a thin and light design.” The iPhone Air features a 6.5-inch ProMotion display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and delivers a peak brightness of 3,000 nits.
The design of the iPhone Air marks a significant advancement in durability, incorporating a ceramic shield that encases a titanium frame on both sides. Under the hood, it houses the new A19 Pro processor, touted as the most powerful chip Apple has ever released for an iPhone. Additionally, the device is equipped with a new modem, the C1x, which is reported to be twice as fast as its predecessor, the C1.
Advanced Features and Battery Life
The iPhone Air also debuts Apple’s latest chip design, the N1 chip, enhancing connectivity with support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. Apple claims that despite its slim profile, the iPhone Air can deliver “all-day” battery life, offering up to 40 hours of video playback. To optimize battery space, the device exclusively supports e-SIMs. The upcoming iOS 26 will introduce an adaptive power mode, further extending battery longevity.
The camera system in the iPhone Air features a 48-megapixel dual camera setup, complemented by a 12MP telephoto lens. A notable new capability allows users to record videos of themselves while simultaneously capturing their surroundings. The 18MP front-facing camera includes the Center Stage feature, which adjusts the frame to ensure everyone fits into the shot without needing to switch to landscape mode.
New Accessories and Operating System Launch
Available colors for the iPhone Air include black, white, beige, and light blue. Alongside the new device, Apple has introduced several accessories, including an ultra-thin translucent case and a reinforced polycarbonate bumper case, both of which can be paired with a new cross-body strap.
The launch of the iPhone Air aligns with the anticipated release of iOS 26, which will feature a new Liquid Glass design language for its user interface. This design introduces a bubbly, transparent look to various navigational elements and icons, a change that has sparked mixed reactions during the beta testing phase.
