Commitment to Honoring Unsung Heroes
Since its inception in 2005, the Hall of Fame has recognized over 200 individuals and organizations, a legacy driven by the late former chairman Larry Ambrosino. According to Tony Santo, the current chairman of SISHOF, “I am always fascinated by people’s commitment to serve others without looking for the spotlight, and understanding their reason why they do what they do to make a difference.” Santo emphasized that the 2025 class consists of “extraordinary decent human beings that leave lasting impressions, the model of an Unsung Hero.”
The Hall of Fame Committee comprises several members dedicated to preserving the spirit of community recognition. Members include Santo (chairman), Jay Price (vice chairman), Alvez, Larry Anderson, Benedetto, and others who contribute to the committee’s efforts.
The Unsung Heroes Breakfast not only highlights individual achievements but also fosters community spirit and encourages further contributions. This event promises to be a meaningful celebration of those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to improve lives in Staten Island and beyond.
