In a thrilling finish, Susquehanna Township secured a 37-35 victory over Wyomissing in the District 3 Class 4A football semifinals on March 15, 2024. The game, held at Susquehanna Township, concluded with a dramatic last-second touchdown that propelled the Spartans into the championship round.

With just two seconds remaining, quarterback Torin Evans connected with Josh Nengite for a 15-yard touchdown pass, marking a stunning turnaround after Wyomissing had taken the lead only a minute earlier. The Spartans had surged ahead 35-31 thanks to a 9-yard touchdown run by Justice Hardy, leaving Susquehanna with little time to respond.

As the clock wound down, Evans led his team down the field, ultimately reaching the 15-yard line. He rolled to his left and reversed direction before finding Nengite waiting in the back of the end zone, sealing the victory for Susquehanna Township, which remains undefeated at 12-0 this season.

The match showcased a series of lead changes and intense moments. Wyomissing initially struggled, trailing 17-7 in the second quarter. However, Hardy turned the tide with a 40-yard touchdown run followed by a 4-yard touchdown pass from Brandy Eisenhower, giving Wyomissing a 21-17 advantage at halftime.

Susquehanna responded emphatically in the third quarter with a 14-yard touchdown pass from Evans to Nengite. Hardy, a standout junior, amassed 156 rushing yards on 17 carries, while teammate Danny Fleischood contributed an additional 88 yards on 13 carries, demonstrating the team’s strong ground game.

With this victory, Susquehanna Township advances to face Twin Valley, also undefeated at 12-0, in the district title game, scheduled for March 22, 2024, at a location to be determined. Twin Valley earned their spot in the championship by defeating West York 45-14 earlier that evening.
