WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez have expressed their desire for the organization to host more live events. During a recent appearance on the podcast Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg, both wrestlers discussed their experiences and the impact of fewer house shows on their development and fan interaction.
Wrestlers Reflect on Live Event Experience
Rodriguez highlighted her nostalgia for house shows, recalling her early days on the main roster in 2022. She said, “A big part of me, actually,” when asked if she missed those events. The pair recently participated in a significant super show in Texas, which allowed them to perform in front of local fans. “We just did a super show in Mexico, in Mexico City and Monterrey. And it was again, the hottest crowds that we’ve been in front of,” she added, showcasing the electric atmosphere of these live events.
She further lamented the missed opportunities presented by fewer shows, stating, “I do miss them. I feel like there are missed opportunities. Being a part of the fans, bettering ourselves as a tag team, working together and getting those reps that we haven’t had before. And so I think we should do more of them.”
Perez echoed her sentiments, noting the challenges of performing in front of a television audience. “It’s definitely nerve wracking to try things on live TV. So, it’s fun to be able to try things on live events,” she explained. Their comments reflect a broader sentiment among wrestlers who benefit from the practice and connection to fans that live events provide.
WWE’s Shift in Event Strategy
WWE announced last September that it would be reducing the number of non-televised events. Excluding NXT house shows in Florida, the company has run only ten non-televised events in 2025 thus far. This includes six events during a European tour in March, two in Texas last month, and the recent shows in Mexico. The organization has scheduled five more European live events this month leading up to the Clash in Paris and two additional events in Tokyo, Japan, at Sumo Hall in October.
The changes in WWE’s event strategy have prompted discussions among wrestlers regarding the potential impact on their careers and the overall fan experience. As Perez and Rodriguez call for increased opportunities, it remains to be seen how WWE will respond to both the demands of its talent and its audience.
