Funeral services for Rhoda Dell Whitley, who passed away on February 4, 2026, at the age of 84, will take place on Saturday, February 14, 2026. The service will be held at Young’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Vidalia, Louisiana, starting at 11 a.m. Following the service, burial will occur at Vidalia Cemetery, coordinated by Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday.
A visitation for family and friends will be conducted on the evening of February 13 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. The service will be officiated by Pastor Louis Banks.
Born to Jessie Scott and Virginia King Scott in Vidalia, Mrs. Whitley dedicated her life to her family and community. She had a successful career in retail sales before her retirement and was an active member of Young’s Chapel Church.
Mrs. Whitley is survived by her children: Joe Whitley, Jr. of Vidalia; Louis Whitley (accompanied by Kim) of Clayton, Louisiana; and Rhoda Whitley of Dallas, Texas. She is also remembered by her four sisters, Madeline Scott, Alma Jean Bowman (and husband Leonard), Henrietta Ryan (and husband Carl), and Deloris Bell, all residing in Vidalia.
In addition, Mrs. Whitley leaves behind five grandchildren: Jaruis Whitley (partner Quitta), Louis Whitley (partner Keana), and DaQuinta Whitley, all from Baton Rouge; Michael Whitley (partner Giselle) from Chicago; and Joshua Whitley of Vidalia. Her close friends, Frances Williams, Irma Ivory, and Ruby Davis, also mourn her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers—Louis Scott and Don Scott—and one sister, Shirley Mae Bowman.
