Syko Stu, a professional wrestler whose real name is Stuart Smith, has been released from hospital following a brutal assault by Raja Jackson during a KnokX Pro Wrestling event in California last month. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and remains under police investigation.
Eyewitnesses reported that Raja Jackson, son of UFC legend Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, delivered a devastating body slam to Syko Stu before unleashing a barrage of 22 punches to the head. The attack left Stu unconscious and reportedly choking on his own teeth. Security personnel and fellow wrestlers had to intervene to separate the two.
Following the incident, Syko Stu was taken to the emergency room where he was diagnosed with severe head trauma. Doctors confirmed he suffered fractures to both his upper and lower jaws, a deep laceration to his upper lip, and significant damage to his maxilla bone, resulting in the loss of several teeth. A statement shared on social media indicated, “He has a long road of recovery ahead, but he remains in good spirits despite everything he has been through.”
The violent altercation is believed to have originated from a confrontation outside the venue, where Syko Stu allegedly struck Jackson with a beer. Although initial footage showed the pair seemingly reconciling, tensions escalated dramatically during the match. Disturbing video of the attack has circulated on social media, with some describing it as “too distressing to show.”
Wrestler Douglas Malo, who witnessed the attack, expressed regret about not intervening sooner. He commented on the Scaling Up Podcast, “You watch somebody you care about, he’s a veteran and these are people who are supposed to love him… It’s all f*****d.” Malo also claimed that Jackson attempted to punch him while he was trying to break up the fight.
KnokX Pro Wrestling Academy, the organization that hosted the event, condemned Jackson’s actions, labeling the outburst “a selfish, irresponsible act of violence.” In their statement, they emphasized, “What was supposed to be a planned and agreed upon wrestling spot turned into a selfish, irresponsible act of violence against Mr. Smith.”
Updates from Syko Stu’s brother, Andrew Smith, revealed that the wrestler is now conscious and able to communicate, but faces a challenging recovery process. He expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, stating, “He loves wrestling, his wrestling family, and all his fans and supporters.”
To assist with medical expenses, Syko Stu’s wife, Contessa Smith, has initiated a GoFundMe campaign, which has raised over $175,000 to date.
Raja Jackson is currently under police investigation for the incident, but as of now, no charges have been announced. The wrestling community continues to rally behind Syko Stu as he begins his recovery journey.
