Northwest Technical College (NTC) is set to host an ice fishing tournament on February 7, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lake Bemidji, located behind the Green Mill restaurant at 1025 Paul Bunyan Drive SE. This event is part of the college’s 60th anniversary celebration, inviting alumni, friends, and community members to engage in a day of fishing and camaraderie.
Participants can enter the tournament for a fee of $10. NTC students and children aged 17 and under, accompanied by an adult, can compete at no charge. Awards and door prizes will be distributed to participants, who are expected to bring their own fishing gear.
Registration for the tournament remains open until February 6. Interested individuals can sign up online at bsualumni.org/events/ntc-fishing. It is essential for all participants aged 16 and older to possess a valid Minnesota fishing license at the time of the event. Licenses must be obtained in advance through the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources or from authorized retailers, as they will not be available on-site.
The tournament is organized by NTC’s trades programs, which encompass automotive service and performance, electrical construction and maintenance, heating, air and refrigeration technology, and plumbing technology. This celebration not only highlights the college’s rich history but also fosters community involvement and support for local educational initiatives.
For additional information, interested participants can contact Gwen Oster at [email protected]. This event promises to bring together fishing enthusiasts and serve as a vibrant community gathering, marking a significant milestone for Northwest Technical College.
