njpw-world-tag-league-2025-five-teams-tie-at-top-after-night-five

The NJPW World Tag League 2025 continued on November 26 in Miyagi, where four matches in the A Block led to a significant shake-up in the standings. Following the fifth night of competition, five teams emerged tied at the top of the group, each boasting a record of 2-1 and accumulating four points.

In the opening match, Gabe Kidd and Yota Tsuji secured their second victory of the tournament by defeating Yujiro Takahashi and Chase Owens, who are still in search of their first win at 0-3. The match showcased Kidd’s quick thinking as he intervened to prevent Takahashi from using his cane on Tsuji, leading to a series of impressive double-team moves that culminated in a powerful spear/clothesline combination known as the War Blaster for the win.

Another exciting encounter saw El Desperado and Shuji Ishikawa also improve to 2-1 with a victory over Satoshi Kojima and Taichi, who now hold a record of 1-2. The match swung in Desperado’s favor when he countered a lariat from Kojima into a pinning combination, securing the three-count. Despite his victory, Desperado required assistance to exit the arena after the match, indicating the toll the tournament is taking on the competitors.

House of Torture’s trademark tactics were on display during the semi-main event, where EVIL and Don Fale managed to defeat the War Dragons team of Shingo Takagi and Drilla Moloney. This victory improved their record to 2-1, while the War Dragons fell to 1-2. Fale’s distraction of the referee allowed Dick Togo to execute a low blow on Moloney, setting the stage for EVIL to secure the pin.

The main event featured Toru Yano and Oleg Boltin, the only undefeated team in the A Block prior to this match. However, they faced defeat at the hands of Bishamon (composed of Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI), who took their record to 2-1. Yano’s attempt at a low blow and cradle was thwarted when Goto kicked out, allowing Bishamon to deliver their finishing move, Shoto, for the victory. Following the match, YOSHI-HASHI celebrated with YOH in the ring, capping off a thrilling evening of wrestling.

As the standings currently reflect, the A Block is tightly contested, with five teams all tied at four points. The next scheduled matches will take place on November 28 in Aomori, featuring intriguing matchups as the tournament progresses.
